Man Utd fans called for selling De Gea

Goalkeeper David De Gea stormed criticism on Twitter after making a mistake in the defeat of Watford 0-2 on December 22.

De Gea is one of Man Utd’s worst links in the 2-0 defeat at the bottom of the English Premier League yesterday. But compared to his teammates who made mistakes like Wan-Bissaka, Jesse Lingard, the Spanish goalkeeper was mentioned more after the defeat.

De Gea made a primary mistake in the situation when Watford opened the score. He missed an effortless shot from Ismaila Sarr, causing the ball to hit the face and then change direction to the net. At the other goal, the goalkeeper guessed the wrong way in the face of a Troy Deeney penalty.

While De Gea made mistakes in both goals, Dean Henderson – the young goalkeeper loaned to Man Utd by Sheffield United – was a great catch, contributing to the 1-0 win at Brighton on 21/12. This is why many Man Utd fans called on the club to push De Gea and summon Henderson in the summer of 2020.

Another tweet suggested that Man Utd was not enough to replace De Gea, but should give Henderson the opportunity to create competitive momentum. “The hand of De Gea guy is like dipping in butter in the first goal. Next year, bring Henderson back, like that, we will have competition for the main catch.”

Opta’s statistics after the match show that the defeat of 0-2 at Watford yesterday was the 13th consecutive Premier League match De Gea could not keep a clean sheet – the worst circuit in the goalkeeper career. Before Watford, this goalkeeper conceded two goals in the first two situations the opponent was definitely on the goal of Man Utd.

Former Man Utd captain Rio Ferdinand also shared the video, accompanied by four smoky angry emoticons. Another Twitter user used a pun to describe “De Gea as a reindeer vehicle that both gave and delivered gifts to Santa Sarr” (David De Sleigh-a with a gift for Sarr-ther Christmas). While another questioned Man Utd’s £ 375,000 weekly salary for De Gea just in exchange for silly mistakes.
